Beautiful and spacious cabin of extraordinary craftsmanship. with wraparound porch. Quiet surroundings with 110 acres of fields and trails to explore. Dark night skies filled with stars. Crackling fires inside or out. Best ice cream a short hike or drive away. Where rush hour consists of three cars and a school bus. We love this place for famly time off the grid! It’s obvious the owners take great pride in this property. You will not be disappointed!

The view was awesome and cabin was homey.

My family enjoyed our stay here! The e house faced North/south with a rap around porch to catch the night skies. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. The only suggestion I would have is a big table so we all can sit down together. The other note was the gas grill. But Steve was on top of it. Even with a full moon out we were able to see a faint milky way and shooting stars. So, that means we have to come back forThe full affect. Great host! And the place was simply beautiful. Cabin but with a barn feel.

    Short History of the Gasthaus

The Gasthaus is a family-owned, family-operated, and family-orientated “home-away-from-home” in the Pennsylvania Wilds. The Gasthaus is situated on 120 acres overlooking the mouth of both the Clara and Oswayo Valleys and boasts of southern exposure. The Gasthaus features
five bedrooms, three full baths, a spacious great room, a fully stocked kitchen, and a wrap-around porch.

That was not always the case…as when the Mehl Family bought the place in 1983, it was a one-bedroom shanty. Dad always said, “his plan was to tear it down.” The good Lord would seem otherwise as we seven children, six boys, and a girl pretty much grew up at a construction site…that went from that one-bedroom shanty to what it is today.

Over the years…many friends and family came to visit…and  Mom and Dad always welcomed them, thus the name “Gasthaus”. We continue in that tradition…Jeremiah, Joshua, Benjamin, Steven, Jason, Jessie, and Daniel welcome you to the Gasthaus! May your stay be one to remember…and may you leave feeling refreshed…taking with you some good memories!

“The room was great, as well as the whole place. Very clean, no problems whatsoever.”
